Winter Sun

It’s no secret I’m not a fan of winter, especially the british winter which has a tendency to turn me into a very gloomy and depressed creature between December & March. However, so far winter is behaving! it hasn’t been that cold up til’ now (knock on wood) we haven’t seen a single snow flake yet, and recently we’ve got plenty of winter sunshine, my favourite! There is something different about a winter sun, the light reflect in such a warm way and make everything glow gold – perfect for a day out with a camera.

In the past couple of years I admit of neglecting my Canon 5DMKII, I’m not sure why, maybe the film craze has taken over my life, but I do feel quite bad about it.
I used to love hanging out with my digital child, and not for the sole purpose of taking conceptual shots, you know, just stroll around with her on the streets/nature capturing the magic around.
While film is still my “main thing” and speciality if you can call it so, I’ve decided that in 2014 I’m gonna do my very best to use my digital friend more, and it’s those wonderful winter days full of sweet sunshine that reminded me how nice it feels to do so.

I love London an awful lot.

    [http://www.flickr.com/photos/stillmanlrvalleys] she = me.
Winter sun isn’t all that harsh tbh….. so no biggy :) also, it was right before the sun went down so she was very low.

It looks like she’s looking directly into the sunlight. How did you avoid squinting and blowing out the highlights?

    by your capture…

I found a secret behind your eyes
A carefree child ready to fly
As I pondered the possibilities, I felt your touch
Never could I have imagined such…

In the quietness of my docile mind
You dance on the edge of time
    In the eve of adulteration
My star shines bright in your constellation
On the wings of passion we shall fly away
On a bed made of dreams we shall lay…

Where are you now my invisible other
Who shares your loving under those covers
It makes no matter for I am your song
Your one and only soul mate
    Though I’ve been gone
The day draws near that it will ignite
We shall be one in all of desire’s might…

Agreed – winter’s here in Portland are pretty gloomy too, but when it is sunny, it has a lovely soft light all day long. No super blown highlights! I like how the light flared in this photo.
